The often misunderstood category of cinema that does not get the love it deserves.
Welcome to my very first ever post on this movie blog.
Kinda strange to be writing a blog after not having one for like a decade or more.
Did not know that blog writing was still a thing, but here we are.
Anyway, if you love films and the power of cinema, I welcome you to my FIlm x Me blog! A project that I always conceptualized but never got up to creating because LIFE. In this blog, I will have posts about all sorts of movies and discussions about them, including questions about the plotline and characters and in depth grasping of the more thought-provoking features like 'Inception' and 'Arrival' amongst others. It will also have lotsa film trivia, easter eggs and references.
Or if you have a suggestion of a brain-f**king movie, give me a recommendation; I'll watch it and we can share opinions about the film. Hit me up on socials.
Alright. SO ON WITH IT.
I love horror films. They are the best things to have ever been created in the history of film history.
All the build-up of tension, suspense and fear. The blood. The gore and all the jump-scares enough to make you squeal like Wilbur in Charlotte's web. Simply amazing. No other film genre evokes such a variety of emotions.
!!! The Horror !!!!!
However, the reviewers and hollywood big-wigs don't give it the love it deserves and that is quite a travesty. None of the Best Picture winners were ever horror-themed films, until one Korean big boy stepped up to the plate and received the honour in 2019. ENTER 기생충... Parasite.
The film that broke boundaries and was not only the first horror winner but also the first foreign film to have won the award.
Also, how ironic is it that it won the award in 2019. Damm.
Parasite is almost a flawless masterpiece and you should definitely watch it if you haven't, because let me tell you that it takes you on a journey so crazy, you feel that you're almost schizophrenic. The koreans are getting incredibly adept at scaring our pants off and they are churning out many good films in the past years with scary films like The Wailing, Train to Busan, The Host and Oldboy (oh boy...this is a tough watch).
Right now, I am on a journey to watch all the horror films that I can find and especially the cult classics from the 80's that i haven't got up to watching-FREDDY,JASON and friends..
I am using this cool list from the horror subreddit(r/horror) also known as dreddit to its members.
Find the list over at https://www.reddit.com/r/horror/comments/j318wd/your_new_opinion_dreadits_top_100_horror_films_of/
Currently on film #50 on the list and found afew unheard gems among them including Misery, Re-Animator, Bone Tomahawk, Evil Dead series and Hell House LLC. All very scary and entertaining. Hell House was so incredibly unsettling and you can find it on Youtube. So go watch it..
After I'm done with the rest of the 50 films, I will be sharing my list of the top 100 scariest films ever according to Leon. So watch out for that.
Well. Thats a wrap folks..
Just an introduction of things to come.
Look out for my next post where we get into my favourite film of all time: The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Also look out for my other posts about horror in the future.
Happy Viewing!
